- We stick to our original plan/budget. Even if it gets better through this effort (which we certainly hope for), we are still largely funded based on one-time money (like your savings account) and employee furloughs.
- We continue to do multi-year projections and utilize the original intent of AB1200 as it was good legislation and has shown a 20 year history of actually working pretty well.
- Be ready in January to take an additional mid-year reduction.
- Be ready in January to NOT take additional reduction of instructional days (remember we have a NO layoffs for 11-12 …which would include more furloughs).
- Smile!!

State budget impacts on RUSD
So what does all of this new state budget mean for us in RUSD? Here is my best guess/information as we go forward:

I beg to differ on the "no lay offs" for the '11-'12 school year. What about all of the RIF'd teachers that were on temporary contracts for this past year and now the contracts have ended? Their contracts have not been renewed. So in essence there were "lay offs" for these teachers since they still do not have their full time jobs or temporary jobs back.
ReplyDeleteIf we have to take a mid-year reduction and if it can't be by reducing staff, then wouldn't it have to be by reducing instructional days?
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the temporary contract teachers, there are STILL teachers that remain laid off from last year. I think there are about 50 teachers on the RIF list altogether. Please stop saying that there were no lay offs this year. It is not true and insensitive.
